It’ s Summer again and with the warmer weather and longer days it’ s the time we bring entertaining and home-life outdoors. Our latest featured item, the Arthur Dining Table is in our opinion perfection for the season. We just love the sculptural form and versatility – it can grace an indoor formal dining room or add a relaxed elegance to an outdoor patio.

We were unable to contact the designer but Janus et Cie was very kind to give us the background on this beautiful and unusual table.

“The inspiration behind the Arthur table was to create a table symbolic of hospitality. A table seating a large number of people; encouraging conversation between all table-companions. A round table was an obvious choice. After all, wasn’t equality between table-companions the reason why King Arthur too chose this shape? The largest Arthur version seats up to 12 people.”

“Not only Arthur’ s size, but also its design are perfect examples of the ‘ form follows function’ principle. By making optimum use of the High Pressure Laminate, you obtain the typical shape of the legs and the tabletop. Although Arthur is generally used indoors as a dining or conference table, it can stay outdoors all year round. Arthur is constructed of High Pressure Resin Laminate, a material made of layered wood fibres and thermosetting resins that are moulded under high temperature and pressure. The integrated top layer is extremely weather resistant and will not fade with UV exposure. Available in 63” , 78” , 94” diameter.”
